How would you like to go back in time...a long time...2000 years-ish...and take a glance at the early churches of the New Testament?
What would it be like to sit among the church go-ers of that day and have an elder or minister read out loud a letter that was penned by the apostle John but written for your church by Jesus Himself? Would your ears perk up? Would you listen closely? Would you be surprised at how this letter seemed so fitting for the situation and culture of the early "AD" years?
And would you be surprised to discover that the very same letter could be so fitting for the situation and culture of today?
In the past few weeks I've been learning how close a culture we have to the early churches, as addressed by Jesus through John and the book of Revelation, and currently being taught on Revive Our Hearts. I'd encourage all of you to start from the very beginning of her "Letters to the Churches of Revelation" series...but especially (so far, anyway) Pergamum & Thyatira, the last two. Really. Go.
